UGREEN sent me its new Nexode Pro 300W desktop charger to test. I’ve used it as my primary charging station for a week, and it has definitely earned a place on my desk. This is UGREEN’s first desktop charger with a built-in display, launched on July 30 at $199.99, designed to replace multiple wall chargers and eliminate cable clutter by serving as a single hub for everything you plug into it.
If you juggle a laptop, phone, and wireless earbuds competing for outlets, this charger solves that problem. It’s built to sit in one spot and handle multiple devices reliably without the mess of several brick adapters and cords.
What it’s actually like to use
The first surprise is the physical size. I expected a much larger unit given the 300-watt output, but it’s reasonably compact and has some reassuring weight to it. That weight works in its favor since the charger is intended to stay on a desk rather than be carried around. UGREEN includes an optional stand to prop the unit at an angle and prevent sliding, which is a thoughtful addition that keeps the charger stable and accessible.
Port selection covers most needs: six USB-C ports and one USB-A port. A single USB-A port might have felt limiting a few years ago, but most modern cables and devices now use USB-C, so it’s less of an issue for typical setups. The USB-A port is a little snug when plugging in, but unless you’re frequently swapping cables, it’s not a serious annoyance.
It’s important to note the ports don’t all deliver the same power. The first three USB-C ports (C1, C2, C3) can each supply up to 140 watts, the next two each top out at 100 watts, and the final port is limited to 30 watts. That means you should choose the right port for power-hungry devices like laptops to get the best charging speed. Even with that distribution, 300 watts total is ample for phones, earbuds, tablets, and most laptops used in everyday scenarios.
A built-in display shows real-time charging speeds for each connected device, which I found genuinely useful for understanding what’s drawing power at any moment. The one drawback is the screen’s brightness: even at maximum it feels a bit dim. That might be intentional so it isn’t harsh in a dark room, but a brighter display option would be welcome for better visibility in varied lighting conditions.
The app, the heat, and the verdict
You can cycle through charging modes and adjust screen settings with physical buttons on the charger. For most people, those controls cover everything you’ll want to do day-to-day. There’s a companion app as well, but its primary function is cosmetic — changing the screensaver or display themes. Connecting the charger to WiFi solely to swap wallpapers feels excessive to me, though the app is optional and not required for normal operation.
Under heavy load the Nexode Pro does run warm, but never uncomfortably hot to the touch. UGREEN implements internal safeguards and thermal management to control temperatures, and the unit also feels mildly warm even with no devices plugged in while the display is active. That did raise a minor concern about long-term durability, but UGREEN confirmed the internal components are designed to tolerate high operating temperatures, and the thermal design and protections should address typical usage scenarios.
If you expect a completely cable-free desk, understand that a single multiport charger won’t automatically solve cable organization. I found it helpful to pair the charger with short, tidy cables — UGREEN’s magnetic coiling cables worked well for keeping lengths neat and reducing the visual clutter of cables across my desk. Investing in shorter or coiling cables makes a bigger difference than the charger alone when tidying a workspace.
Outside of a few small quirks — like a slightly dim display, port power distribution that requires some attention, and the need for cable management accessories to fully tidy a desk — the Nexode Pro 300W performs as advertised.
