Some months ago, Amazon began a phased global rollout of its new Alexa+ assistant, bringing more advanced, AI-powered capabilities to users around the world. Now the company has confirmed that Alexa+ will arrive in Australia on August 6. Australian customers will be invited to join an Early Access program for free, with access later becoming part of a bundled benefit for Amazon Prime members.
This Australian launch follows the initial rollouts across North America and Europe. Amazon has said it plans to expand Alexa+ to more than ten additional countries through 2027. Existing Echo device owners in Australia will be able to apply for Early Access online, while some new Echo purchases will include automatic access as invitations are distributed nationwide.

Alexa+ runs on advanced large language models and moves beyond traditional voice assistant interactions by offering a more ambient, hands-free experience across Echo devices, Fire TV, mobile apps, and web browsers. Amazon confirmed partnerships and integrations that will reflect local services and media, and said the product experience will be tuned to the expectations of Australian households.
During the Early Access period, Australian users will be able to explore the new conversational features and provide feedback that helps Amazon refine local performance. After the trial concludes, Alexa+ will be offered as a paid tier for non-Prime subscribers at AU$29.99 per month, while Prime members will eventually receive the service as a bundled benefit.
