Apple has announced an expansion of its training and skills development programs for supplier employees in Vietnam through a new collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). The initiative, named the Apple Education Center, launches this fall and will offer a combination of online and hands-on instruction. The curriculum is designed to reach employees at more than 30 supplier sites across Vietnam, bringing advanced technical training closer to where people work.
The Apple Education Center combines practical classroom experience with digital coursework to ensure learners gain both theoretical knowledge and applied skills. Core technical subjects include smart manufacturing techniques, robotics, and automation—areas Apple identifies as critical to modern supply chain operations. In addition to manufacturing-focused training, the program includes professional development modules that target leadership and line manager competencies, helping supervisors and mid-level managers lead teams more effectively and safely.
A notable part of the curriculum is instruction in Swift programming, reflecting Apple’s emphasis on software literacy alongside hardware and manufacturing skills. The program also covers essential life skills and workplace awareness, with courses on employee rights, mental health education, disease prevention, and early health screening. These elements aim to improve overall well-being and workplace safety, supporting both individual employees and the broader supplier ecosystem.

Apple’s expanded effort builds on its existing Vocational Education for People with Disabilities program, which has already benefited tens of thousands of workers and encouraged suppliers to create more inclusive workplaces. By integrating inclusive vocational training with technical education, Apple and HUST aim to make vocational pathways more accessible and relevant to a wider range of employees, including those with disabilities.
Funding for the Apple Education Center and related programs is supported by Apple’s $50 million global Supplier Employee Development Fund. This financial commitment reinforces Apple’s long-term approach to supplier employee development and enhances nearly 20 existing educational programs already active in Vietnam’s supply chain. Apple reports that a specialized robotics program has already launched at five local factories, with plans for continued expansion to additional supplier sites.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology brings technical expertise and academic resources to the partnership. HUST’s role includes co-developing training content, validating course outcomes, and helping ensure that programs align with Vietnam’s evolving industry needs. The collaboration is positioned to strengthen the country’s technical workforce by combining Apple’s industry knowledge with HUST’s academic and research capabilities.
