Puffin Cloud Store is predominantly distributed as a pre-installed app by phone manufacturers. It is released on Google Play Store to facilitate app updates. For users without Puffin Cloud Store pre-installed, a paid subscription is required as a barrier and reminder that the app is not for them. Puffin Cloud Store is a game changer to bridge the digital divide. The apps installed by Puffin Cloud Store are WebAPKs. Puffin Cloud Store has a unique architecture to run Web Apps in the cloud. It separates a full browser into two halves: Display Rasterization on the device and HTML Rendering in the cloud. The client side is very lean and mean, accounting for only 5% of the code.
