Gaming achievements have long motivated players to keep returning to their favorite titles, and Xbox’s latest update takes that motivation a step further. Xbox has introduced “Mythic Achievements” for Xbox Insiders, a new recognition that permanently honors players who complete all of a game’s original achievements. Unlike standard milestones, Mythic status marks a game as fully completed in its original form and remains attached to a player’s record indefinitely.
Whether you’ve spent years collecting every achievement or simply take pride in finishing games, Mythic Achievements recognize standout accomplishments across your Xbox history.
A Mythic Achievement is earned when a player completes every original achievement for a title. Achievements added later through DLC or post-launch updates are not required for Mythic status. Once earned, Mythic status is permanent and visible on the player’s profile.

This update also introduces a new Gaming tab on user profiles. The tab gives players a clear view of completed games, highlights upcoming Gamerscore milestones, and displays a distinctive heroic frame that emphasizes any earned Mythic Achievements in the profile history. Viewing a friend’s Gaming tab will now show their completed titles and progress, letting players compare accomplishments and discover which games their friends have finished.

To support players working toward Mythic status, Xbox has added new in-system tracking tools. Each game’s achievements list now includes a progress bar at the top and a filter that isolates remaining original achievements, making it easier to focus on what’s left to complete. Achievements introduced after launch—such as those added through DLC or updates—are clearly labeled as add-ons so players can distinguish original objectives from later additions.
These tracking improvements are being rolled out across the entire Xbox interface. You’ll see progress indicators in the Guide and on Achievement detail pages, ensuring that the path to Mythic status is visible wherever you check achievements. This integration makes the system more coherent and helps players plan which activities or challenges they need to finish to claim Mythic recognition and reach personal Gamerscore goals.
Importantly, DLC and post-launch updates are explicitly excluded from the requirements to unlock Mythic status. That means players will not be penalized for additional content released after a game’s debut. Xbox has also confirmed that Mythic Achievements will be applied retroactively to eligible older titles, including games from the Xbox 360 era, allowing longtime players to receive recognition for past completion efforts.
From a social perspective, the new Gaming tab and Mythic markers enhance how achievements are presented and celebrated. Profiles will more clearly showcase a player’s dedication and mastery, and friends can quickly identify titles others have fully completed. For achievement hunters, the new filters and progress displays reduce friction and make completion goals more manageable. For casual players, Mythic Achievements provide a satisfying way to mark a game as finished without worrying about later content changes.
Overall, Mythic Achievements and the accompanying profile and tracking updates represent a focused effort by Xbox to reward completion and clarify achievement status across its ecosystem. Whether you aim for every Gamerscore point or simply want a tidy showcase of finished games, the new features improve visibility, fairness, and recognition for player accomplishments.
